We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Sciences, specialising in Pharmaceutical/Medicine Manufacturing and Quality Assurance, to join our dynamic academic team. This role integrates teaching, curriculum development, industry engagement, and employer-facing business development activity. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, contribute to academic innovation, collaborate with industry partners, support regional employer engagement, and help shape the future of pharmaceutical education.

Salary
£35,700 – £44,570 per annum (full-time, depending on experience)
Contract
Full-Time / Part Time (Self-Employed contractor considered)

Liverpool City Region & Lancashire (Hybrid working – Wavertree Technology Park and other partner sites)
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Delivery
Deliver lectures, and practical sessions across pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality assurance, including topics such as medicine/pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, GMP, GxP, regulatory expectations, Quality Assurance principles, ICH Q3D, ICH Q9, validation principles, stability testing, SOP writing and interpretation.
Curriculum Development
- Develop, review and update course materials aligned with industry standards.
- Support the creation of training tailored to industry partner needs, enhancing learner employability.
- Student Support & Academic Leadership
- Mentor and guide students, providing academic and pastoral support.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide leadership within the academic team through exemplary practice and innovation.
Industry Engagement & Collaboration
- Work with industry partners, stakeholders and employers to ensure course relevance and create impactful learner pathways.
- Support collaborative projects that enhance employability and sector alignment.
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Proactively engage with existing and prospective industry partners to promote training programmes and collaboration opportunities.
- Confidently contact clients via phone, email and face-to-face meetings to understand employer needs and present suitable training solutions.
- Conduct independent client visits as well as joint visits alongside the Regional Manager to strengthen relationships and support organisational growth.
- Represent the organisation professionally at industry events, employer meetings and networking opportunities.
- Work closely with the Regional Manager and wider business development team to contribute to regional growth strategies and employer engagement plans.
- Provide feedback from employers to inform curriculum development and ensure alignment with sector needs.
Quality Improvement & Scholarship
- Enhance teaching methods, assessment strategies and learner outcomes.
- Participate in departmental meetings, staff development initiatives and strategic planning.
- Engage in applied research or scholarly activity where appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Relevant degree in pharmaceutical sciences, medicine, cosmetic science, manufacturing or related discipline.
- Demonstrable teaching experience and ability to deliver complex scientific content.
- Minimum 5 years’ industrial experience in pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic or related manufacturing/QA roles.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to partner sites to deliver training.
- Confidence and experience in contacting clients via phone, virtual meetings and face-to-face visits, including independent employer outreach.
