Physics Practical Skills Expert
Description
We are looking for experienced Physics Practical Skills Experts to deliver A Level Physics required practical work and assess learners against the Common Practical Assessment Criteria (CPAC) and the required Apparatus and Techniques.
You will deliver practical sessions, assess learner performance and maintain records of learner progress so that practical endorsement outcomes can be communicated accurately to consortium examination centres and awarding organisations.
There may also be opportunities to upskill and assess adult learners who directly or indirectly support Level 3 Physics practical teaching and assessment within schools, colleges and tuition centres.
Successful applicants will receive a full day’s training to support their understanding of the current A Level Physics practical work assessment specification requirements common to AQA, Pearson Edexcel, Eduqas and OCR.
Salary
£1,000 per week (for weeks worked). Work is offered on a casual, ad hoc basis and is dependent on demand.
Location
Recruitment to work in one of the following areas in person:
- Liverpool
- Birmingham
- Northamptonshire (Northants)
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Assessment
- Deliver small-group teaching to between 1 and 15 learners.
- Adhere to policies and procedures in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain learner records of progress against assessment criteria.
- Attend training and meetings.
- Undertake administrative duties.
- Test course equipment and troubleshoot any problems so that practical activities are fit for purpose and adapted accordingly.
- Ensure learners are provided with enough opportunities to meet the required standards in order to complete the assessment successfully.
- Complete assessments of learners in line with regulatory requirements.
Health and Safety
- Review all related provided risk assessments.
- Have overall responsibility for health and safety within the practical work sessions.
- Ensure learners understand and follow health and safety guidance.
- Ensure all learners complete the relevant health and safety assessments.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Knowledge
- BSc in Physics or a relevant Science Teaching degree.
- A Level Practical Endorsement Certification, to be completed if successful.
- Understanding of the British education sector.
- Qualified Teacher Status and/or experience teaching within the Higher Education sector.
Desirable Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in a relevant science subject.
Essential Experience
- Minimum of two years’ teaching experience.
- Experience working with laboratory equipment.
- Experience writing risk assessments.
- Experience preparing chemical solutions.
Desirable Experience
- Experience assessing A Level Science practical work.
- Experience working in a multicultural setting.
- Experience in quality assurance.
- Experience working with SEN learners and adapting lessons to their needs.
