Head of Skills Bootcamps
Description
The post holder will play a major role in the design, development, delivery and assessment of all skills bootcamp provision. They will support the delivery of our education strategy, assist in the development of educational policy and enhance our educational provision to contribute positively to our learner centred experience. The post holder will drive forward and support the growth of current business streams as well as developing new business by building relationships with local, regional and national employers, providers and authorities ensuring alignment with the prevailing market demands in science. The Head of Skills Bootcamps will take direct responsibility for the mobilising of our comprehensive programmes across the UK, working with our partners to ensure compliance, quality and delivery are inline with requirements under Ofsted.

Role-specific responsibilities
1. Management
- Provide high level advice on the implementation and continued evolution of BioGrad Education’s academic regulations and supporting policy.
- Manage all processes and requirements for compliance according to Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA), Skills for Life, the Department for Education (DfE) and Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
- Manage the collection, storage, usage, transfer and control of sensitive Learner data according to GDPR and data security
- Ensure compliance with cyber security certification.
- Support, guide and encourage development within the Skills Bootcamp team to ensure that they are able to undertake their role to the best of their ability and meet KPIs
- Working with the senior management team and management team to plan the annual course schedule.
- Ensure that the Skills Bootcamp team are trained and knowledgeable of company policies and procedures, including those of awarding bodies and the onboarding processes for LCRCA, where applicable.
- Ensure Skills Bootcamp team have all the required skills and qualifications to undertake their roles within the department.
- Ensure the development, delivery and assessment of all qualifications are completed within the guidelines of policies set out by their awarding bodies or Ofsted.
- Complete annual appraisals in line with company policy
- Ensure annual moderation and standardisation is conducted in line with company policies and procedures and meets all regulatory body requirements.
2. Teaching
- Ensure teams are provided with the appropriate equipment to undertake programmes and complete any assessment tasks required and to ensure a system that regulates purchase and stock auditing.
- Ensure that course equipment has been tested and any problems addressed so that courses are fit for purpose
- Responsible for course materials and assessment so that they are fit for purpose.
- Teach students information required to complete courses.
- Ensure the assessments of students is in line with company policies and the relevant qualification/awarding/funding body guidelines
3. Health & Safety
- Ensure that teams create and review all related risk assessments and make amendments in line with the relevant guidance.
- Have overall responsibility for health and safety within the organisation.
- Ensure technicians and lecturing staff understand and follow lab health and safety
- Ensure the health and safety policy is adhered to.
4. Leadership
- Manage Skills Bootcamp budget for the financial year and ensure all reporting is completed and sent to finance.
- Working with the Head of Education to plan out the annual department strategy and KPI’s
- Working with the Senior Leadership team to ensure the annual marketing strategy is created and a plan has been put in place for delivery.
- Represent company at Management/Board of Directors and panel meetings
- Represent company at relevant stakeholder events.
Competency Criteria
Qualifications, Training & Knowledge
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant science subject
- PGCE or QTS teaching qualifications
- Understanding of the English education sector and ESFA funded programmes
- In depth knowledge of OFSTED inspection processes
- First Aid at Work

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching
- Experience of working in a Senior Leadership Team

- Experience of working with SEN students and adapting lessons to their need
- Experience of leading a team and manging their professional development

- Experience in budget management
- Experience in researching new markets and developing working relationships to help inform programme content.
