Clinical Nurse Lecturer
Description
To develop and deliver clinical programmes of study that will provide access for all learners. Using a learner-centered approach, provide formative and summative assessment and feedback to develop students, enabling them to move on to their chosen career path.
Reports to: Clinical Lecturer and Researcher
Role-specific responsibilities
1. Develop, deliver and assess students in line with the standards set out by BioGrad Education and awarding organisations.
- Deliver group lectures to 20-200 students.
- Deliver small group teaching from 1-20 students.
- Course design, delivery and assessment inline with awarding organisations and other awarding bodies.
- Assess and grade work such as essays, exams, case studies and presentations.
- Attend standardisation and moderation meetings.
- Complete observations of lecturer colleagues.
- Complete reflective practice. Provide both formative and summative structured feedback to students.
- Provide first aid training to schools, corporate clients and on-site
2. Provide support for students.
- Support students during and after their time with BioGrad Education.
- Writing UCAS references.
- Supporting students with university applications.
- Attend schools to give career talks.
- Keeping student records of achievement
3. Accordance with awarding bodies
- Attend training and meetings.
- Liaising with external examiners and stakeholders.
- Adhere to policies and procedures in accordance with company standards.
- Mentor apprentices.
- Undertaking clerical duties

4. To ensure all Health and Safety Policies are adhered to keep staff and students safe.
- Ensure that equipment and work/teaching areas are routinely cleaned and equipment maintained.
- Work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety guidelines, ISO standards and COSSH guidelines.
- Understand and perform procedures for spillage of chemical and biological material, and fire alarm procedure.
- Maintain stock levels of all PPE and equipment.
- Responsible for the health and safety of students in the laboratories making sure students are not left alone in the laboratory areas.
- Ensure students wear appropriate PPE.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- A student nurse in their 3rd year or medical student who has recently completed the entry to medical school process in the UK
- Experience in teaching level 3 students
- Teaching qualification (PGCE or QTS)
Knowledge
- An effective research-informed teacher and assessor on the Entry to Medical School Preparation module or Medical School Preparation module at level 3 and other clinical modules
- Excellent effective and adaptive teaching skills underpinned by sound pedagogical principles
- Provide formative and summative assessment and feedback to students
- The ability to work as part of a team with emotional intelligence to support students in their studies with academic tutoring
- Developing breadth and depth of subject knowledge and evidence of continuing professional development
- Develop or adapt teaching materials that allow all students full access to resources and teaching aids
- Ability to support the diverse personal and academic needs of individual students
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, combined with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with students, colleagues and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently using one’s own initiative to reflect on skills, knowledge, session delivery and feedback
