To support learners with enquiries, bookings, payments, transfers and activities and provide effective communications with the whole of the Education team.
Reports to: Biobank Manager
The specimen management team is responsible for the day-to-day management of specimen shipments, specimen handling and specimen logging. Specimens are biological samples collected from humans and are a valuable resource for researchers.
Main RESPONSIBILITIES
1. PRE-SPECIMEN RECIEPT
Track incoming shipments and inform supervisor of any changes in expected timelines and or challenges/issues identified.
Upon early receipt of shipping manifest for frozen specimens, perform thorough checks of the manifest in accordance with quality control methods.
Highlight and resolve any queries related to the shipment manifest and ensure correct filing of the document and associated information/communications for traceability.
3. GENERAL DUTIES
Work in accordance with local health and Safety regulations
Ensure at all times that you follow the principle of uncompromised sample integrity and full sample traceability – report any issues faced immediately to your supervisor.
2. SPECIMENT RECIEPT DISPATCH
Ensure performance of early acceptance checks and controls such as downloading and filing of temperature control information and sample leakage.
Ensure complete traceability of sample receipt and sample handling information including maintaining and filing records correctly.
Ensure specimen are logged into the Biobank according to internal procedures and stored at the correct temperature. This may include data entry into Excel spreadsheets and/or electronic sample management systems.
Inform supervisor of any issues or queries that may compromise sample integrity and/or traceability.
Maintain storage location upkeep by carrying out scheduled sample reconciliation.
Upon request retrieve specimens for clients or sample analysis ensuring full traceability
Carry out any additional tasks as directed by your supervisor.
