Head of Clinical Service

Description

The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Clinical Services team. They will be responsible for maintaining clinical excellence within Clinical Services and also the development and the health and safety of the team. The post holder will also be required to provide expertise on the teaching aspect on some BioGrad taught courses as required.

Reports to: Clinical Director

Role-specific responsibilities

1. Managment

  • Lead on the implementation of BioGrad Clinical Services
  • Oversee the strategy and policy development for department
  • Management the engagement of consultants and agencies
  • Conduct and oversee performance of the team
  • Provide support, guidance and encourage development within team to ensure that they are able to undertake their role to the best of their ability
  • Chair departmental meetings
  • Maintain overview of financial activities of the department
  • Manage rota & leave within the team
  • Provide management cover and On-Call cover

2. Clinical Service

  • Ensure that samples are returned in-line with established processes and procedures
  • Ensure that results are shared within established timescales and following GDPR protocols
  • Ensure that team and consultants adhere to established clinic processes and procedures
  • Oversee clinical & administrative training
  • Lead Clinical Governance within BioGrad group of companies
  • Oversee and manage customer service
  • Establish and maintain policies
  • Maintain awareness of government legislation.
  • Monitoring and implementation of new guidance
  • Lead the department on ISO standards
  • Lead on all client liaison & requests for service use

3. New Service Set-up

  • Lead on the set up and development of new services
  • Lead on the regulatory requirements for new services (CQC, ISO, HTA)
  • Produce and implement plan of new service

2. Clinical Service

  • Ensure that samples are returned in-line with established processes and procedures

  • Ensure that team and consultants adhere to established clinic processes and procedures
  • Oversee clinical & administrative training
  • Lead Clinical Governance within BioGrad group of companies

  • Monitoring and implementation of new guidance

4. Health & Safety

  • Create and review all related risk assessments and make amendments in line with the relevant guidance.
  • Ensure all team members complete the relevant health and safety assessments

Person Specification

Qualifications, Training & Knowledge

Essential
  • NMC/HCPC Registration
  • Understanding and ability to undertake research
Desirable
  • PGCE or equivalent

Experience

Essential
  • 5 years plus management experience
Desirable
  • Experienced in lecturing/teaching

  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to use them to convey complex information to students and colleagues
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to coordinate a team, ensuring appropriate cover is provided
  • Ability to take initiative and work without supervision
  • Confidence in making decisions within area of expertise

  • Ability to review documentation and make amendments appropriately within set guidelines

Circumstances

The post requires a flexible approach and willingness to carry out working hours across set teaching schedules which will include weekends and bank holidays

Contract

Full-time

Salary

£32,000-£42,000 per annum, depending on experience
